Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a Deputy Regional Director for the Developmental Disabilities Administration's Central Maryland Regional Office (CMRO). This position provides administration, coordination and management, in collaboration with the Regional Director, of all Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) funded community based services for individuals with developmental disabilities in the Central Maryland Region; Baltimore City and County, Anne Arundel, Howard and Harford counties and ensures effective and efficient operations within CMRO.  Additionally, this position provides for the coordination of emergency placements and functions as the Regional Director in their absence.

 

This position oversees:  

  • Individual and family supports to include supporting families, coordination of community services, individuals with nursing needs, those in need of self-advocacy supports and hospitalized individuals.
  • Clinical Services to include nursing services.
  • Provider technical assistance, training, support and monitoring.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a bachelor’s degree and six years of professional experience in health or human services, three years of which must have been professional work related to services for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and three years of which must have been at the managerial and/or supervisory level, including a demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams..  

A related master’s degree will substitute for one year of general experience.  A doctorate will substitute for two years of the general experience.  Additional experience will substitute year for year for the college degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive experience in serving people with developmental disabilities in community-based settings is highly desirable.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
