POSITION DUTIES

This position will plan, organize and control the collection of debts owed to the State of Maryland that have been referred to the Central Collection Unit (CCU). This position will manage the collection efforts of the agency by developing and maintaining methods to secure accurate and valid debtor information, have staff work accounts timely, refer accounts for suit timely, thus ensuring the fair and equitable collection of its debts. This position will supervise the managers of CCU to ensure the policy and procedures are being followed consistently.

This is a management service position that will serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.  

Experience:  Five years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. One year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of collection management experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.   Previous Call Center experience.

2.   A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related degree.

3.   Experience in personnel management.
