Main Purpose of Job

The Somerset County Health Department is a comprehensive local level health department with a staff of 64 and an annual budget of approximately $7 million.  The Deputy Health Officer will be responsible for directing and managing the administrative activities of the Department.  This position will also be responsible for direction, supervision and guidance of administrative and support services, major programs and policy development, subject to the final approval of the Health Officer.  Programs include Disease Prevention, Adult Services, Environmental Health, Behavioral Health, School Health, Health Promotions, Family Health, Tri-County for Homeless and Administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and six years of professional experience related to health care service delivery; three years of which should have been in a supervisory or managerial position.

A Masters degree will substitute for one year of general experience. Additional experience will substitute year-for-year for the college degree.  

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
