Main Purpose of Job

Management level of nursing directing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating all nursing services within a 24/7 in-patient psychiatric facility encompassing a patient population of adolescents to geriatric/old age through directly supervising ADON's and indirectly supervising RN Managers, RN Supervisor, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Charge RN's, Staff RN's, LPN's, DCT/Aides, C.A MHA's, and Patient/Client Drivers. This supervision includes RN Supervisor for patient areas. This position ensures that personnel are competent and knowledgeable to provide nursing care, orientation, education, and related support functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must possess a master's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university and five years of psychiatric nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least three years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity. A copy of your transcript must be attached to the application. Qualified candidates must possess a license as a Registered Nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing. A copy of your current RN license must accompany application. A bachelor's degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university, together with seven years of psychiatric nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least five years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity is also qualifying. A Ph.D. in nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of general experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.  A copy of your license must be attached to the application.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
