LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH, Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville, MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position provides the executive level of nursing with responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating nursing services for a psychiatric population of adolescent to geriatric/old age. This position ensures that personnel are competent and knowledgeable to provide nursing care, orientation, education, and related support functions. Incumbent is responsible for developing nursing care standards, policies and procedures in accordance with stated hospital vision, mission, and values. This is an 'Emergency Essential' position required to have and maintain a valid Maryland Driver's License and able to drive a State Vehicle in accordance to State of Maryland Policies and Procedures for Drivers of State Vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must possess a master's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university and five years of psychiatric nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least three years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity. 

A bachelor's degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university, together with seven years of psychiatric nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least five years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity is also qualifying.  A Ph.D. in nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of general experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.  A copy of your license must be attached to the application.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A copy of your resume must accompany the application.
