Main Purpose of Job

As the supervisor of the Police Training Unit, this position provides oversight to programs, including the Instructor Training Program and Field Training Officer Program. The incumbent oversees the unit's research of client agency's training needs and the planning of new training courses the unit will host. This position also manages a training grant for the Child First Program and facilitates that training program multiple times each year.

POSITION DUTIES

Some of the duties for this position include: Supervising staff in the Police Training Unit; coordinating, facilitating and teaching in-service training classes to include the Instructor Training Program and the Field Training Officer Program, as well as other training courses. This position approves program applications for client agencies; updates training materials, lesson plans and PowerPoint presentations; answers inquiries on police training regulations from client agencies and the public; manages a grant for the ChildFirst Program and completes reports; as well as other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In order to meet this educational requirement an unofficial copy of your transcript must accompany your application.  For education obtained outside the United States, you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.  This evaluation must be submitted with your transcript.

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute additional experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education, for up to four years of the required education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet this selective qualification to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Two years of experience coordinating public safety programs, scheduling and supervising other training instructors.

Must successfully complete a General Academic Instructor Course within 6 months of hire if not currently certified.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Selected applicant MUST successfully complete a background investigation.
