Introduction

MPT internships offer a thorough introduction to Maryland Public Television including our mission and expectations. Maryland Public Television is committed to providing solid work experience to serious minded individuals in a positive environment.

All MPT internships are unpaid. An internship that is not for academic credit is deemed a volunteer.

Main Purpose of Job

Maryland Public Television offers full-time and part-time internships for college students throughout the year. Internships are specifically designed to provide training and experience for students interested in public broadcasting.

POSITION DUTIES

MPT's office of Major and Planned Giving offers learning experiences spanning the full donor cycle from prospect research and identification through stewardship. Interns will work on a specific project based on the strengths of the skill set they bring and the needs of the Major and Planned Gifts unit. This opportunity offers the chance to learn why major and planned gifts play a critical role in supporting the unique characteristics of a non-profit public media organization. Successful interns must have strong research, writing, web/social media, and interpersonal skills. In addition, candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, be detail oriented and be comfortable meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:

Students must be a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate of a college, university, or trade school who must be able to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week and have reliable transportation.

If your interest is not for academic credit, but for experience only, please indicate that information in your cover letter and submit a professional reference from an advisor, instructor or employer.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.

Preferred Majors: Communications, English, Creative Writing, Non-profit management

SELECTION PROCESS

Interns will be evaluated based upon information submitted via this online application process and may be invited to interview.
