Introduction

MPT internships offer a thorough introduction to Maryland Public Television including our mission and expectations. Maryland Public Television is committed to providing solid work experience to serious minded individuals in a positive environment.

All MPT internships are unpaid. An internship that is not for academic credit is deemed a volunteer.

Main Purpose of Job

Maryland Public Television offers full-time and part-time internships for college students throughout the year. Internships are specifically designed to provide training and experience for students interested in public broadcasting.

POSITION DUTIES

Under the guidance of the Data-Entry & Gifts Representative and Development staff, the intern will assist the office with the successful execution of ongoing membership recruitment and retention efforts.  The Department is offering internship candidates, the opportunity to learn about how a nonprofit organization develops and maintains its membership database.  The intern will be exposed to how different types of donations, pledges, and other member activities influence member contribution records.  Candidates will have opportunities to participate in live pledge, volunteer events, special events, as well as to track shipment of premiums, and to make updates to Workplace Giving and Matching Gifts records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:

Students must be a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate of a college, university, or trade school who must be able to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week and have reliable transportation.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Major: Information Systems, Business, Media, Communications, Computer Science

SELECTION PROCESS

Interns will be evaluated based upon information submitted via this online application process and may be invited to interview.
