Introduction

Maryland Public Television, which is commonly known by its familiar name "MPT", is a public television network that comprises six television stations that broadcast throughout the entire state of Maryland as well as into the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is the only statewide broadcaster in Maryland. MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service.

Main Purpose of Job

The Project Manager performs and manages all activities associated with a variety of interagency projects, between MPT and the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), and is primarily focused on overseeing all facets of MPT's opioid addiction awareness campaigns and other projects as assigned with this client. This includes complex support to managerial, professional, and supervisory staff, as well as direct coordination with our partners at the MDH. This position is responsible for successfully coordinating well-defined projects and their associated tasks, while promoting consistency and collaboration between the disparate elements of all project requirements and staff.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for the client (MDH) 
  • Review/submit interagency agreements and develop documents for contract modifications and renewals
  • Break general project goals into specific strategic actions and set timelines
  • Assign and track status of contracted deliverables to internal and external individuals and teams
  • Gather client feedback/specifications and communicate them to team members
  • Serve as decision-making liaison (in close coordination with other team members at MPT)
  • Maintain an active awareness of all project statuses across all involved departments and serve as liaison between staff members
  • Co-develop and submit project proposals
  • Monitor project progress and report projected delays to client
  • Quality check all deliverables to ensure they meet the latest client requirements
  • Maintain comprehensive system of all project files
  • Develop reporting documentation for all projects/deliverables, tailoring each report to the project’s scope and the client’s needs
  • Maintain an open line of communication with the client, including delivery of a weekly status report
  • Regularly attend local agency and interagency team meetings as identified
  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of state agency program regulations, policies and procedures
  • Develop charts and write summaries to report on project outcomes
  • Assists MPT in growing its relationship with MDH by exceeding expectations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in broadcast, film, or mass media, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional or educational background experience in project management or special events.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.  

Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
