This is a Special Appointment position at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. The incumbent will work at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Main Purpose of Job

This position involves assisting with audits of training records and selection standards for the hiring of mandated law enforcement and correctional personnel, to ensure compliance with the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). This employee is also responsible for the review and approval of training programs for law enforcement and correctional agencies.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Coordinates and tracks both a biennial cycle for Entry Level Training Academy audits and an annual cycle for agency audits of Selection Standards and Annual Training.  Prepares correspondence related to audits for Executive Director's signature.
  • Reviews and approves applications to teach specific classes (Program Approvals) for law enforcement and correctional agencies, to include E-Learning.  Resolves conflicting or missing information with the applying agency; and engages supervision on issues when needed.  Maintains files on programs.
  • Assists the Compliance Officer with audits as required.
  • Maintains compliance files and reviews records to ensure information is complete and accurate.
  • Provides secretarial support to the Certifications Administrator and Compliance Officer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Word to include run and record Macros; creating mail merges, sorting and filtering them; and creating and formatting complex tables and managing table data.
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel to include creating and modifying macro commands; using mathematical, logical statistical and financial functions; and creating, modifying and formatting charts.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting regulations and/or state law.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants MUST be able to successfully complete a background investigation.
