We are seeking dynamic individuals who excel at customer service and are computer/internet savy.
LOCATION OF POSITION
301 W. Preston Street, Room 510 Baltimore, Maryland 21201
The Shared Services Division within the OPSB, DBM, is seeking individuals to work at the SPS HelpDesk to assist with system user support calls.
Successful candidates will function in a support role in the Division, and shall be able to work independently. Specifically, duties involve resetting system passwords, walking employees through system processes, following up to make sure issues have been resolved, and providing feedback about the system.
Core office hours are from 7:00 to 5:00, for an 8 hour a day schedule during these times. May consider part time schedules for the right candidate.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Previous helpdesk support experience, current software experience with Google, Excel and Word. Extensive experience researching materials using the internet, explaining process steps to others and interest in learning new software applications.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Customer-focused, sense of urgency to resolve issues.
Well organized, self-starter who eagerly approaches new challenges.
Proven ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and maturity.
Proficient at intermediate level in MS Office including Word, Excel.

Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the eligible (employment) list for at least one year.
Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
