Main Purpose of Job

There are two positions available in our Community Health Services Division. The first position is in the Babies Born Healthy Program - The main purpose of this position is to provide outreach and program support with a goal of reducing infant mortality and disparity on infant mortality rates in Wicomico County. This position provides outreach to the local community to promote public awareness of the services available and provides direct service to high risk pregnant women. The second position is in the  Lead/Asthma Program. The main purpose of this position is to provide outreach, conduct environmental assessments in homes and provide education on lead prevention and asthma. Both positions are designated emergency essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience in providing information on health care and disease prevention within the community.

Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should have experience conducting home visits, providing outreach and education and creating and maintaining documentation of the home visits and interactions with clients.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
