Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the position is to collect, analyze, evaluate and disseminate Homeland Security and Intelligence information and provide case support for uniform criminal investigative activities. This intelligence information will be shared and coordinated with the Maryland State Police (MSP), Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center (MCAC) and includes a number of government agencies in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region for the purpose of writing laws, resource allocation, providing critical information for officer safety and program targeting and investigative support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience collecting, analyzing, assessing and disseminating criminal intelligence information.

Notes: 

1. Additional experience as a criminal intelligence analyst, related law enforcement background investigative experience or prior military intelligence experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education or experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Intelligence Specialist classifications or Intelligence or Intelligence Analyst specialty codes in the Intelligence field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Applicants for this position will be subject to a complete criminal background investigation and polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the applicant.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list as a BEST, BETTER or QUALIFIED candidate.  The list will be used by the hiring manger to select the individuals to fill the vacancies.  The list will be valid for one year.
