MDH Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown MD

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to investigate for maximum reimbursement of hospital costs for admissions to facilities associated with the Financial Agents' Office located at Western Maryland Hospital Center and Potomac Center. This position will complete all required forms and reports associated with the investigations and rate setting in accordance with COMAR regulations and Title XVI of the Health and General Articles of the Annotated Code of Maryland. This position will also follow State of Maryland procedures involving rate appeals and the referring of delinquent balances for abatement consideration or collections. Please note that this position requires frequent travel between the Western Maryland and Potomac Centers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  None.

Note:  Candidates may substitute experience in health care financing work on the life/health insurance fields in the investigation and/or adjustment of claims, at the rate of one year for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess experience in finance/billing, claims adjustments, agreeing and/or managing budgets.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle, Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland, and to have access to a vehicle for daily use.
