Introduction

This is an INTERNAL RECRUITMENT restricted to current full-time, permanent and contractual Maryland State Police Employees only and full-time employees working with the Maryland State Police by contract.

Main Purpose of Job

The position is responsible for providing 24-hour a day technical support, oversight, guidance and instruction to all users of METERS/NCIC, NCIC 2000, NLETS and related law enforcement /criminal justice computer systems, FEMA/MEMA and related emergency preparedness/response agencies as part of the Agency's function as the Maryland Control Terminal Agency/Control Point.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years experience performing communications services through the Maryland Electronic Telecommunications Enforcement Resource System and National Crime Information Center System.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Operations Specialist classifications or Signal Corps, Cyberspace Support, or Communications specialty codes in the communications field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience performing quality control compliance work in automated law enforcement and criminal justice systems.

2. Experience providing technical assistance to end users to resolve problems with computer hardware and software.

 

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Applicants are subject to an extensive background investigation prior to appointment.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to work on weekends and holidays.

SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants will be subject to an interview.
