Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control, 201 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, Md

Main Purpose of Job

This position will provide support and oversight for local public health and other programs within the Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control (CTPC).  This position will also provide training and technical assistance for several tobacco use prevention activities including local public health grants, tobacco related disparities initiatives, and tobacco sales compliance enforcement.  This includes establishing priorities, developing performance standards, monitoring program performance, strategic planning, conducting site visit reviews, and managing local budgets, unified grant awards and reconciliations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.

Experience: One year of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects.

Notes:  1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science or related behavioral science and two years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects for the required education and experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have:

- experience managing program grants

- Community Health Education experience in Tobacco Prevention

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
