POSITION DUTIES

This is a Part-time Computer Operator II position working 20 hours a week.

Essential duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate the print facility's on-line printers, peripheral equipment and print room console.
  • Perform routine operator maintenance and replacement of printer consumables.
  • Set up printers for print on standard paper, special forms paper and checks.
  • Break down of agency production reports and distribute of reports.
  • Verify and reconcile control numbered negotiable documents (checks).
  • Properly complete all operations control logs and forms.
  • Move stock to/from appropriate storage areas.
  • Control output using the print room console.
  • Log hardware and software problems into the help desk database.

PLEASE NOTE: This is currently a third shift position scheduled from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, with a rotating weekend schedule including holidays with hours from 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 am. This position requires you to perform physical work, such as moving boxes of paper weighing up to forty pounds, moving equipment, moving loaded pallets using a pallet jack, cleaning equipment, and other physical task.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems.

NOTES:

  1. Experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  2. Fifteen credit hours in computer operation at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Computer System Operations classifications or Computer System Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate with two years’ experience as a Laser Printer and computer operator.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. This background check is comprehensive and may involve fingerprinting. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six- month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
