LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville (Carroll County) Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide paraprofessional support to the Springfield Hospital Center's Office of Human Resources. This position will independently process appointments, reclassifications, health benefits, retirements, and resignations. This position will create and maintain employees' official personnel file and online file via Workday. This position will serve as a Health Benefits Coordinator and will be the main liaison for IWIF claims.
Some job responsibilities may include:
Review and process all types of appointments for assigned Units which include Skilled, Professional, Management, Special, Executive, Designated Political Appointments and Emergency/TE
Review for approval of processing of appointments of another Associate
Handle all workman’s comp paperwork
Review documents for accuracy and send to the correct contact at IWIF
Knowledgeable on Workman’s comp issues and issue guidance on work related injuries
Maintain personnel policies, procedures, rules regulations, salary schedules, and other personnel guides and answer questions concerning the application of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and advise employees and supervisors of alternation course of action
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three (3) years of general clerical or administrative support experience at least one (1) year of which must have been paraprofessional personnel experience involving the application of public sector procedures, policies, rules and regulations to specific employment actions. Appropriate paraprofessional personnel experience should have included responsibility for activities such as, preparing and maintaining employment records, calculating salaries, applying and interpreting rules and policies, preparing personnel-related reports, counseling employees regarding benefits and obligations, and responding to inquiries concerning employment actions.
Notes: 1. One additional year of paraprofessional personnel experience as defined above may be substituted for one year of general clerical or administrative support experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in human resources assistance classification or human resources assistance specialty codes in the human resources management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
The selected candidate will have one year HR Generalist experience with employee processing, records management, employee relations, health benefits and compensation.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience with Workers Compensation and OSHA Reporting.
