Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Develops a detailed computerized file in the MILES/NCIC system and an internal database file for each parole warrant received. This involves examining all available information from a variety of legal sources to confirm the identity of the violator and to determine proper caution codes on order to protect the safety of the apprehending officer.
Respond to HIT Confirmation requests and MILES message requests to determine the warrant and extradition status of parole violators to meet the NCIC and Community Surveillance and Enforcement (CSEP)requirements.
Removes warrants from computer and other database files upon notification of apprehension.
Lodgers detainers as necessary and coordinates transportation or extradition arrangements nationwide in order to maintain the integrity of the process.Performs computer database and file maintenance processes such as reconciling and validating research to update case status to ascertain the necessity for file closure and /or destruction.
Prepares correspondence that assigns warrants to more than 54 allied law enforcement agencies .
Provides warrant processing support to the other MPC warrant processing unit.
Provides clerical support to the Office Supervisor and Administrative Officer III.
Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience utilizing full capacity of Maryland Interagency Law Enforcement System ( MILES) National Crime Information Center ( NCIC)
