Introduction

The Department  of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Office Processing Clerk II within the Division of Occupational & Professional Licensing. This position is limited to current Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation employees only.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to accurately respond to Consumer inquiries and requests for information concerning the licensing status of twenty-five licensing boards registration, certification programs and complaints filed against licensees and registrants of the regulatory Boards/Commissions within the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. The position is also responsible for processing licensee's applications for manual deposit.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Respond to consumer inquiries by telephone about licensing status and password assistance in order to accurately interpret complex licensing records and complaint records in accordance with the Maryland Public Information Act. Reduce consumer frustration by directing phone calls to the proper agency and staff members using knowledge of the agencies personnel.

Provide information to consumers about each agency within the Division by telephone and by mail in a timely manner.

Mail out licensing renewal notices.

Process original and renewal manual deposits.

Review, verify and/or resolve checks for licensees manual deposits.

Review, verify and write summary of daily receipts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: One year of experience typing correspondence, reports, charts or other documents from rough draft, corrected copy or oral instruction on a keyboard of a personal computer, computer terminal or word processor.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience typing or performing other clerical duties on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate for six months of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute five courses or six months of clerical training in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette for six months of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Experience working in a Call Center

Customer Service experience

Experience with preparing and/or processing bank deposits, internet and financial transactions

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to current merit, contractual and temp employees of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation(DLLR).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of a personal computer, computer terminal or word processor at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR/DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
