Main Purpose of Job
Review all METERS/NCIC Validation entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide initial training to new PCO's and continued training to experienced PCO's.
Prepare and maintain work and leave schedules for the PCO's.
Maintain related filing systems in the Communications Center.
Review Detainer File monthly to ensure wanted persons are still incarcerated.
Maintain all communications related manuals, including Departmental manuals in the Communications Center.
Access District Court Criminal Files and obtain disposition for disposing of confiscated property/evidence.
Counsel PCO's and prepare Annual Efficiency Rating Reports.
Perform the essential function of a PCO when needed.
Other related duties, as required by the Commander/Assistant Commander of the barrack.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalence certificate.
Experience: Three years experience performing law enforcement communications work involving the operation of a computer terminal, multi-channel radio, and related equipment.
NOTE: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Operations Specialist classifications or Signal Corps, Cyberspace Support, or Communications specialty codes in the communications field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Prior supervision experience performing law enforcement communications work.
2. Prior experience providing training to others performing law enforcement communications work.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Applicants for this position will be subject to a complete criminal background investigation and polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the applicant.
2. Employees in this classification will be required to provide a telephone number at which they can be reached.
