LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Calvert County Health Department, Calvert County Behavioral Health Unit, Prince Frederick, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
This position will identify, treat and educate clients with substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health disorders. This position will also learn how to complete assessments, referrals and intakes for individuals who seek treatment with the Calvert County Behavioral Health Unit, in order to accurately access the appropriate services and level of care needed, based on criteria set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience working with clients in a behavioral health program.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
2. Employees must successfully obtain certification or licensure from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as either a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug, or a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, within one year of meeting the experience requirements for Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing, in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations, 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
