POSITION DUTIES

This position performs administrative work at the intermediate level to support Behavioral Health System's Office. This position assists with developing, implementing, and reporting on behavioral health plans within the jurisdiction. This position prepares reports for internal/external customers. This position, obtains a working knowledge of Maryland's publicly-funded behavioral health system; then analyze and interpret information in order to: review and pre-authorize services by applying regulations; determine high-cost users of mental health services and coordinate with providers to assist these individuals; utilize program knowledge to assist in developing transition plans; apply rules, regulations, and standards to investigate complaints and participate in compliance reviews. This position engages in public education opportunities; develops and maintains a resource directory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: None

Notes:   1. Candidates may substitute one year of experience in administrative or professional work for the required education, at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies  on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should have the following experience:

    • knowledge of Maryland's publicly-funded behavioral health system
    • knowledge of local community behavioral health resources
    • present information and make presentations to large and small groups
    • education background in mental health, human services, psychology, or social work     

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
