Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of the Environment/Air and Radiation Administration. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only. The resulting cert list will be maintained for one year. Persons interested in future vacancies within the classification must re-apply.

POSITION DUTIES

This position provides administrative support to the Air Quality Compliance Program including the Asbestos Division.

The following duties are examples of assignments by the incumbent in this position. It is not a total list of duties, nor is it restrictive regarding job assignments.

Provides administrative support to the Air Quality Compliance Program (AQCP), including preparation of summaries and reports of air quality compliance and asbestos data, and researching and compiling data in an organized fashion as directed.   

Prepares statistical tables, charts and reports of air quality compliance and asbestos data, as well as work-flow charts, staffing patterns, and organizational charts of the AQCP. 

Manage and conduct air quality compliance and enforcement activities and data for the AQCP by tracking and compiling data as directed and preparing compliance and enforcement documents, data, and reports as necessary. 

Assists with implementing and administering the 3rd party asbestos occupation testing program. Specific duties will include organization and preparation of testing materials, entering testing information into databases, and organizing and preparing test registrations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

It is preferred that the selected candidate has the following:

Experience in providing administrative support services to multiple staff members; 

Experience in preparing reports involving numbers (i.e. requisitions for supplies, reconciliation of credit card bills, tracking and monitoring cash receipts, etc..); 

Experience with customer service in a professional government setting; 

Experience entering information into and/or using databases; 

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access; 

Experience with managing and organizing various asbestos-related documents including asbestos notification forms, notice of intent to demolish, asbestos contractor licenses, asbestos training provider applications, and asbestos exam registration forms.

This position is limited to permanent or contractual employees of the Maryland Department of the Environment.
