POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to procure nutritious, sanitary and safe meals for the individuals at Regional Institute for Children and Adolescent and Noyes Children's Center along with the cleaning and sanitation of the work area, equipment and dining facilities. This position supports the mission of the facility by ensuring that each individual at Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents and Noyes Children Center receive the correct meals and snacks according to the Federal Child Nutrition Program orders and individuals nutritional needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   None.

Experience: Three years of experience in food preparation at a public or governmental establishment, such as a restaurant, hospital or comparable institution involving the cooking of meats and vegetables and the preparation of salads and beverages.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited vocational/technical high school with a major in food service or a related field for up to two years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Culinary classifications or Food Services specialty codes in the Equipment Services and Facilities field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have the following:

-- experience preparing therapeutic diets

-- knowledge of and/or experience with National School Lunch and National School Breakfast Program

-- ServSafe Certification

The desired candidate should also be able to lift heavy cases.
