Introduction

This recruitment is being conducted to fill a vacancy for the Charles County Department of Social Services in LaPlata, Maryland.

LaPlata is located in Southern Maryland, about 55 miles south of Washington, DC and 65 miles south/southwest of Baltimore.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this job is to assist the Family, Adult and Children Services (FACS) Division in providing and maintaining statistical reports for the FACS programs within the local Department. 

POSITION DUTIES

Work cooperatively with Assistant Director, Administrators, Supervisors, and Family, Adult and Children Services staff to adhere to time frames and guidelines so that work performed in the field is entered in a timely manner.

Collect and maintain accurate statistical reports for Family, Adult and Children Service programs including Place Matters goals and outcomes, the completion and analysis of peer review data, agency data and Business Objects data.

Ensure that data is collected and entered into the system, offering support to workers on completion. Complete data reports as required and monitor Milestone reports for the different program areas.

Provide continuous one-on-one and group support and trainings to case managers with regard to MDCHESSIE or any other areas of services requested by the Assistant Director, monitor agency compliance on policy requirements.

Manage DHS/SSA/FACS program reports and ensure accuracy of data. Provide support to Family, Adult and Children Services (FACS) Leadership in the management of data to assist in supervision and plans of action for staff when required.

Practice and service delivery including an examination of Fatality Reviews and risk factors for re-entry of children into foster care placement. Recommendations for service delivery improvement will be made.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations.

NOTES:

1. Additional professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university in a human services related field may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications and Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Officer Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Six months of experience in the collection, compilation, classification and tabulation of data.        

One year of experience with Excel computer software. 

One year of experience in a Child or Family Services program. 

A bachelor’s degree with a major in the areas of Human Services, Social Work or Psychology.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service is required prior to hire.
