LOCATION OF POSITION
The Comptroller of Maryland, Revenue Administration Division is seeking to fill two Revenue Specialist II positions within their Taxpayer Accounting Adjustment Unit and Return Processing Error Correction Unit.
The Revenue Administration Division is seeking two motivated individuals to serve as Team Leader within the Taxpayer Accounting Adjustment Unit and Return Processing Error Correction Unit. The positions are fast-paced, high-volume that requires someone with good attention to detail and forward facing customer service experience.
Return Processing Error Correction Unit- The incumbent of this position manages and directs staff who analyze tax forms and associated documents that have been identified by internal systems for review. The documents reviewed are applicable to tax types such as individual, corporation, fiduciary, sales and use, withholding, and related payments. Taxpayer
Accounting Adjustment Unit- The incumbent of this position will oversee, manage, and direct staff responsible for processing necessary adjustments to account records. The adjustments are applicable to tax types such as individual, corporation, fiduciary, withholding, and sales and use.
PLEASE NOTE: May be requested to work evenings and/or Saturday's during Tax Season. For the purpose of this statement, Tax Season shall be defined as the period beginning January 15th and closing May 15th.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, including or supplemented by a course in bookkeeping or accounting.
Experience: Four years of experience performing work in tax assessments, collections, investigations, examinations, adjustments or taxpayer services within two or more of the specialized fields of revenue administration or performing work in tax assessments, collections, investigations, examinations, adjustments or taxpayer services within the motor fuel/motor carrier tax field. The specialized fields may include sales and use tax, income tax, admissions and amusement tax, withholding tax, alcohol and tobacco tax, and any other revenue levy authorized by the legislature.
- Possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
- Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in finance technician classification or finance technician specialty codes in the financial clerical and technician field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

- Knowledge of state and federal tax laws, rules, regulations, and forms

- Experience using software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel

This background check is comprehensive and may involve fingerprinting. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six- month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
