Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise skilled and semi-skilled building and ground maintenance workers. This position will organize, plan, schedule, coordinate and assign routine and preventive maintenance work and installations performed by maintenance department employees. This position will also provide direct supervision and on-the-job training to semi-skilled and unskilled workers; assure work methods are performed according to accepted trade practices; and, inspect completed job assignments for adherence to accepted trades standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Eighth grade.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including three (3) years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience supervising skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers of various trades of the building maintenance industry.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
