Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Maintenance in the overall operations of the maintenance/transportation departments. This position is considered essential personnel and may be required to stay at work or respond at any time 24/7 for emergency situations. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
providing monitoring, supervision and guidance for maintenance shop foremen
managing work control center
ensuring timely completion of tasks for corrective and preventative work orders
overseeing and approving material, equipment and other purchases
participating in quarterly tours and monthly meetings
assisting with preparing and reviewing cost estimates and providing written details for material specifications and installation requirements or projects
monitoring and guiding projects/contracts (in-house or outside vendors/contractors)
ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, codes and standards for work
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Seven (7) years experience in building maintenance or building construction trades including six (6) years of responsibility assigning, reviewing and approving the work of others and disciplining, evaluating the performance of, and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of others.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance specialty codes in the utility systems repair field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience in electricity, plumbing and carpentry and experience with maintenance operations in a hospital psychiatric setting. This position travels to various facilities and the desired candidate should also possess a valid Maryland Driver's license.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
