Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Fishing and Boating Services. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Fishing and Boating Services is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Specialist III position in the Aquaculture and Industry Enhancement Division. This position will direct and manage daily and long-range administrative, customer service and operational support services for the Division including responsibilities for accounting, data entry and management and communications and outreach. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining tools that are used by staff to refine administrative processes within the Division’s Leasing and Permitting, Field Operations and Artificial Reef Programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience processing legal documents

One year of experience working with local, state or federal regulatory programs

One year of experience with biological data entry and preparing reports related to informational databases

One year of experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures and/or creating customer training manuals

Experience in working with invoicing and fiscal accounting processes

Experience developing and updating website content

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
