POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide on-going supervision and direction for the work of the Lower Shore Health Insurance Assistance Program. This includes evaluation of consumer applications, internal case audits and staff performance through regularly scheduled conferences for the purpose of determining professional performance and the results accomplished. This position acts as a mentor providing advice and guidance to lower-level staff. This position evaluates and reviews case situations, interventions and case information of staff working with clients, families, and community providers. This position determines if a crisis situation exists and, if it does, immediately initiates appropriate intervention techniques. This position assists the program manager with ongoing monitoring of the program outreach, communications and marketing campaign. This position will also assist with special projects/reports. Certification is required to be maintained by the Maryland Health Connection. Must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience supervising lower-level staff. The desired candidate should be knowledgable of Medicaid and other qualified health plans. The desired candidate should have strong leadership, communication and public speaking skills.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
