Main Purpose of Job

The Director of Psychological Services administers and directs the Psychological Service Department at Springfield Hospital Center. The position develops standards, participates in strategic planning, evaluates staff performance, recruits staff, makes assignments and has responsibility for training programs. As expert in psychological issues, the Director of Psychological Services consults with hospital leadership and clinical departments, designs and develops new programs and acts as a technical expert.  This position will support the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide psychological evaluation and treatment in recovery oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery oriented environment is respect and commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible.

The Director of Psychological Services will:

  • Provide leadership and management of the operations of the Department of Psychological Services;
  • Constantly evaluate processes and policies related to the Department of Psychological Services to maximize the efficiency and efficacy of the department;
  • As expert in psychological issues, assess needs of patients hospital wide and design and develop special programs to enhance patient functioning;
  • Serve as Chief Psychological Consultant to the Clinical Director and CEO; and,
  • Participates in the assessment and maintenance of compliance with TJC/CMS standards related to Provision of Care, Treatment, and Service. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Doctorate degree in a Psychology field acceptable to the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists and five (5) years of experience rendering psychological services, including three years post-doctorate clinical experience and two years of supervisory experience. 

The incumbent must obtain a current Maryland license to practice as a Psychologist from the Board prior to appointment. 

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A copy of your resume must accompany your application.
