Main Purpose of Job
Human Service Aide III provides full performance aide services which include teaching clients new ways to perform personal care and housekeeping tasks. The main purpose of this position is to provide direct personal care for patients of the home health agency at Garrett County Health Department.
Education: Completion of the tenth grade. Satisfactory completion of a course such as geriatric nursing assistant which meets the standards of the appointing agency. A copy of your transcript or certificate must be attached to the application.
Experience: Two years experience providing housekeeping and personal care services to clients.

2. These requirements are established by the Social Services Administration by authority provided in Section 1 of Article 88A of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Department of Personnel does not have the authority to accept substitutions or equivalents.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
1. Applicants must be able to lift clients, wheelchairs, or other weight. Applicants will be given a medical examination and may be required to demonstrate their ability to perform the manual work required of the position prior to appointment.
2. Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be required to have access to and to use their personal automobile in order to transport clients. Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle.

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
