Main Purpose of Job

The Administrator I-Entry Level Training Specialist provides training and other related services to the Department of Juvenile Services in the Professional Training and Education Unit. The position will design and deliver training activities and/or learning opportunities for staff of the Department of Juvenile Services with primary oversight of Residential Services training compliance. This position relates to the agency's mission because PTEU is responsible for providing staff development programs to ensure the safety of citizens of the State by providing efficient and effective programs and services.

POSITION DUTIES

The Administrator I-Entry Level Training Specialist is responsible for coordination of the Entrance Level Training program as directed by the MD Correctional Training Commission's regulations. The position also assists in reviewing all On the Job Training submissions and other duties as may be required by the Program Manager, Deputy Director of Entry Level Training or the Director of the Professional Training and Education Unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of the above required experience must include training adults in a training environment.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Possession of a current Instructor Certification from the Maryland Police Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC)

• At least one year of experience training adults in the Public Safety/Criminal Justice work environment is highly desirable.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is open to current MD State Government Employees.  You must be a current Maryland State Government Employee.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
