LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Anne Arundel County Department of Health, Bureau of Behavioral Health Services, Annapolis, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
This position is a senior management position within the Bureau of Behavioral Health Services' Administrative office. This position will be the authority for all Bureau operations (fiscal, administrative and site-specific) and be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and administrating all operational aspects of the Bureau, including budget monitoring, tracking and reporting. This position will also support the Director, Deputy Director and Program Managers, by coordinating assigned special projects and initiatives, as well as providing leadership to Bureau administrative staff and supervision of subordinate staff.
The Bureau is comprised of 110+ staff members (state merit, county merit, county contractual, consultants) and the budget is in excess of $14 million dollars, comprised of grants, revenue, state, local, and federal funding.
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted, on a year-for-year basis, for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours, on a year-for-year basis, for the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer, involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures, and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations, or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking Commissioned Officer, on a year-for-year basis, for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience with financial analysis and reporting techniques. He/she should also have 3-4 years of supervisory experience, as well as 2-3 years of experience with preparing and monitoring budgets.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
