Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
60%: Perform ASHRAE Level II, or similar, energy audits on large State-owned facilities. Develop audit templates and draft audit reports. Engage with client State agencies to schedule audits, and explain audit recommendations. In consultation with Energy Office staff, develop economic and engineering analysis of recommended ECMs.
30%: Assist with technical review and management of other energy related projects, including retro-commissioning projects, undertaken by the Office of Energy. Work with State agencies on requests for energy reviews for specific energy efficiency and renewable energy project requests assigned by the Director of the Office of Energy.
10%: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director.
Note: This is a contractual (hourly) position, with an annual renewal option available.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a professional commercial energy auditor. An understanding of the design, installation and operation of commercial building energy systems, to include HVAC, lighting, building shell, and renewable energy. Experience developing economic analyses including a simple payback analysis of energy recommendations. Experience managing or overseeing the installation of energy measures, including contractor oversight and control.
Certification: ASHRAE Building Energy Assessment Professional, AEE Certified Energy Auditor or similar.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
· Experience with utility or government run energy savings programs is strongly preferred.
· Certified Energy Manager is preferred.
· Certification as a lighting professional is preferred.
· Experience auditing campuses on a central power plant is preferred.
· Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
· Exceptional communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and functions.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
