Main Purpose of Job

To provide support for Executive Director of the Emergency Number Systems Board with a focus on dispatcher training, project funding reviews, implementation of call answering protocol systems, adherence to established standards, and completing special projects. This position would facilitate compliance with COMAR in coordinating training to entrance level and in-service 9-1-1 Dispatchers.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Evaluate training needs and establish/update standards for 911 personnel through the Board's Training Subcommittee and industry experts for the improvement of 911 training.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of entry-level and in-service training programs to promote continuous quality improvement of 911 personnel.
  • Prepare reports required by Public Safety Article, COMAR, and to familiarize Board members and the PSAP community with various aspects of 911 service delivery and training.
  • Assist the Executive Director to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Emergency Number System Board and to accomplish the day-to-day activities in support of the Board.
  • Review and prepare written analysis of Board project funding requests for sufficiency of scope and cost.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • 6 months of professional or administrative experience in the 911 call center (if you are not using the education substitution to meet the minimum qualifications)

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include Clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s):

  • 6 months experience in Adult Education or Training
  • 6 months experience in training Public Safety Answer Point

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
