The Department of Information Technology was created by 2008 legislation in an effort to consolidate state agency information technology functions and policies into one department; elevating the department to one that reports directly to the Governor.

Main Purpose of Job

To perform daily accounts payable duties and act as the agency's inventory control officer for general furnishings.

POSITION DUTIES

Receive, open, date stamp, log and submit for distribution all invoices on the same day as they are received.

Process vendor invoices, direct vouchers and transmittals. Invoices and vouchers are processed according to State regulations.

Track invoices to assure they are returned from managers for processing within one week of distribution.

Review the invoice log regularly to assure no invoices are missing and following through to resolve any issues.

Review contracts to assure invoices and purchase orders are according to contract documentation.

Contact vendors, managers or other staff as required to process payments accurately.

Responsible for Vendor Payment inquires.

Perform duties necessary to ensure DoIT general furnishings are inventoried, tagged and timely inventory reports are submitted.  This may include travel and some lifting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One (I) year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

***One year of fulltime work experience performing accounts payable duties***

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Our preferred candidate will have experience in one or both of the following:  

-Maryland State Government experience performing accounts payable duties, to include FMIS and ADPICS working knowledge.  

-Other State or County Government experience performing accounts payable duties.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
