LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Prevention and Health Promotion Administration, Center for Injury Prevention/Environmental Health Bureau, Baltimore, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
This position will provide expertise and technical assistance on injury-related issues, including data, evaluation, policy, and intervention strategies for the Center for Injury and Sexual Assault Prevention, as well as for the Environmental Health Bureau, as a whole. This position will lead and facilitate program and grant development, implementation and evaluation. This position will also provide leadership and direction for internal programs, such as Kids in Safety Seats (KISS) and Core State Violence and Injury Prevention programs, in addition to external partners, such as State and federal agencies, local health departments and community-based organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.
Experience: Three years of experience in planning, developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating public health education programs, including one year of experience managing community health education projects and one year of experience at the supervisory level of planning, developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating community health educational work.

1. Candidates may substitute a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science, or Public Health Policy; one year of experience managing community health education projects; and, one year of experience at the supervisory level of planning, developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating community health education work, for the required education and experience.
2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science; four years of experience planning, developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating health education projects, including one year of experience managing community health education projects and one year of experience at the supervisory level of planning, developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating community health education work, for the required education and experience.
3. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Science, or related behavioral science, and five years of experience planning, developing, implementing, and promoting health education projects, including one year of experience managing community health education projects and one year of experience at the supervisory level of planning, developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating community health education work, for the required education and experience. A copy of your college transcripts must accompany your application, if applicable.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a Commissioned Officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications, or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience with unintentional injury prevention, as well as experience in the Public Health field. He/she should also have experience monitoring contracts and procurements. Finally, the desired candidate should have experience writing grants, position papers for legislation and/or State and federal reports.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
