LOTTERY REPRESENTATIVE I

A Lottery Representative I is the intermediate level of work in selling and merchandising to retailers for the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.

This position's sales territory is located within Montgomery County and Prince Georges County, Maryland.

The main purpose of this position is to maximize sales and revenues for all Lottery products by visiting approximately 115-125 permanently assigned Lottery retailer locations in a specific territory on a pre-determined cycle and performing duties that correspond with being front line communicators with our retailer network. These duties include increasing revenue generating activities, promotions and lottery ticket sales; and maintaining compliance with lottery laws, regulations and policies with integrity and efficiency.

Must travel throughout a designated territory to ensure retailers are promoting Lottery sales activities while complying with licensing policies and procedures. Must also assist with licensing new retailers, and evaluates retailer's licensing compliance. Additional duties include but are not limited to delivering point-of-sale materials to retailers, advising retailer's on the effective display of point-of-sale materials, and conducting public presentations.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience selling or marketing a consumer product from a wholesaler or manufacturer to retail outlets for resale to consumers.

Notes:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing may be substituted for  the required experience.

2. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years experience in wholesale and/or route sales.

Two years of sales experience involving servicing retailers.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
