LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate including at least four courses in mathematics and/or science.
Experience: Two years of experience performing full performance level Hydrographic Engineering Associate work in the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
OR
Experience: Seven years of experience involving any combination of hydrography, engineering, surveying, or construction inspection work including two years of experience in hydrographic engineering associated activities.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute credit hours in the field of engineering, geology, physics, oceanography, mathematics (excluding basic, required courses) from an accredited college or university at the rate of 15 credit hours for one year, up to a maximum of two years of required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Civil Engineering classifications or Civil Engineering or Quarrying Specialist specialty codes in he hydrographic engineering field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
One year of experience positioning buoys and performing marine construction is required.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in steel hull vessel maintenance
Ability to operate and maintain a state vessel, vehicle and trailer in order to assure safe and ready response in accordance with Departmental policies
