Main Purpose of Job

The position provides oversight and coordination of two Family Investment Units comprised of a supervisor for each unit, Family Investment Specialists and clerical support staff and directs the daily operation of the unites to ensure compliance with the agency's mission and goals. The position must accurately interpret and apply policies, rules, regulations and procedures to ensure that the units are in compliance with all requirements of the Family Investment Programs. The position oversees personnel activities including employee relations, evaluations, approving time and attendance, training and interviewing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience
: Two years supervising workers engaged in determining eligibility for governmental assistance programs or monitoring compliance in those programs.

Notes:

1. Additional experience as described may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. These requirements are established by the Family Investment Administration by authority provided in Human Services Article Title 5, Subtitle 2, Section 204, (b)(1) of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Office of Personnel Services and Benefits of the Department of Budget and Management and the Examination Services Unit of the Department of Human Resources do not have the authority to accept substitutions or equivalents.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1) One year of experience reviewing and analyzing data.  

2) One year of experience implementing policies and procedures to create and achieve goals.  

3) Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or Human Service Administration.

 

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Limited to current Department of Human Services, Family Investment Administration employees only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service is required prior to hire.
