MDH, Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville, MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position will be responsible for inventory to supply daily food for 250 patients assuring the hospitals procurement process meets the applicable standards, (i.e., JCAHO, Licensing and Certification, COMAR, State of Maryland Procurement Policy and all State and Federal laws and regulations). This position will make purchases with the corporate credit card; ensure prompt posting and reconciliation of charges and credits; and, secure competitive bids on supplies for purchase with an annual cost of $500,000.00-$600,000.00.

Specific duties assigned to this position include, but are not limited to:

- providing direction of the procurement process, in line with the Hospital's mission and strategic goals 

- assuring that the hospital procurement process meets applicable standards, i.e. JCAHO, Licensing and certification, COMAR, State of Maryland procurement policy and all state and federal laws and regulations

- securing competitive bids on supplies

- evaluating and processing purchases using operational methods and procedures that have been established for the agency

- overseeing purchases with a corporate credit card ensuring that necessary procedures are in place to ensure prompt posting and reconciliation of charges and credits

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a State high school equivalence certificate.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience in receiving, storing, issuing, purchasing and requisitioning supplies, materials and equipment, three (3) years of which must have included experience at the supervisory or management level or must have involved the final responsibility for purchasing and requisitioning.

Note: Applicants may substitute education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for one year of experience for up to one year of the required general experience.
