POSITION DUTIES
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
A. As essential personnel, Officers will respond in a timely manner, ready to work, when required to be on-call during emergency situations. (State Of Emergencies, Weather related incidents).
B. To work day, evening, night or rotating shifts, this will include holidays and weekends. There will be a 48 hour notice giving unless the circumstances call for immediate coverage to fulfill the needs of the Department.
C. Maintain Post integrity whether on foot patrol, mobile patrol or stationary position at all times. During emergency situations, such as building evacuations, crowd control and traffic control, Officers may be required to stand for several hours until relief is available.
D. To patrol the building and grounds of DLLR properties. Check all doors and locks to ensure that the property is secure. Check for hazardous building conditions and contraband. Secure all items of value to ensure that they cannot be removed. Verify that all employees and visitors are in the required areas with the correct visitors’ pass or Maryland State Identification.
E. Patrol buildings during normal and non-business hours, to include, individual offices, hallways, stairs, restrooms, café, loading docks, mailroom, supply room, elevators and blind areas to the surveillance system. Talk to employees and claimants when situations appear to be confrontational. Assist people by giving directions to proper service areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Ability to read and write.
Experience: Two years of experience in building security work.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Master-At-Arms classifications or law enforcement specialty codes in the site security field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification are subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, will be required to provide the employer with a telephone number where they can be reached.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 06.01.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
All candidates are subject to background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR?DUI) as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

Health Benefits
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
