Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide management and leadership for the Division of Community Health Nursing to improve the health of the citizens of Washington County. This includes the Healthy Families Program, The ACCU/Ombudsman Program, Maternal and Child Health Programs, Communicable Disease and Clinical Programs, HIV Case Management programs, WIC, Cancer Programs and Maryland Children's Health Programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A master’s degree in nursing, public health or a related field from an accredited college or university and four years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity or two years of experience as a community health nurse and three years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a registered nurse.

A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field and five years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should possess the following: 

  • Knowledge of State Nursing Programs
  • 5 years Nursing Director-Management level experience 
  • Knowledge of Communicable Disease
  • Experience with State Grants and Budgets

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification positions must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland  21215.
