POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide Occupational Therapy services and implement programs for severe and persistently mentally ill patients. This position functions as a member of the treatment team, participates in the training program for Level I and Level II fieldwork interns and maintains patient records. This position also supports the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery-oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery-oriented environment is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible.

 

Some job responsibilities include:

  • Serves as Rehabilitation Program Manager for our programs
  • Administers and interprets assessment/reassessment of patients' current level of functioning in the following categories of daily living skills; physical, psychological, work, play, leisure, cognitive and psychosocial components. Effectively apply assessments and treatments for the adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.
  • Upon an analysis of Occupational Therapy data, formulates treatment plan developing goals and modalities to be implemented. Periodically and systematically reviews quality and appropriateness of total services delivered including those for individuals, groups, and programs for special populations or special services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Occupational Therapists.

Experience: Four years of experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy for two years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Occupation Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapist from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
