Main Purpose of Job

The Division of Recoveries and Financial Services (DRAFS) is the sole state agency responsible for operating third party liability programs through which other sources of payment for Medical Assistance recipients' health care are discovered and money spent on behalf of the recipients is recovered from sources allowed by federal or state law. The main purpose of this position is to identify, evaluate and analyze potential Third Party Liability (TPL) situations to determine the State's potential claim against Third Party resources. This process impacts upon the collection of resources which are due the Maryland Medical Assistance Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes: 1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have:

- experience conducting analysis, collecting data, establishing facts and defining problems

- experience handling and/or managing a high volume workload

- experience and skill level with Microsoft (Word, Excel) and Maryland Management Information System (MMIS)
