LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Kent County Health Department, Chestertown, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
This position will determine eligibility for the Maryland Department of Health (MDH)'s Medical Assistance Program, as well as assist with complex cases with Maryland Health Connections. This position will have the ability to perform system overrides, in order to establish correct eligibility. This position will work with multiple parties, including Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Community Liaison and Care Coordination (CLCC) and Doctor's offices, in tracking non-compliant Medical Assistance recipients, in accordance with MDH program policies, procedures and regulations.
In addition, this position will provide in-house training and assistance to all staff members, in order to ensure that all staff members have the ability to understand access and operate Maryland Health Benefits Exchange. Finally, this position will prepare for, and provide, testimony at administrative hearings for appeals cases.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.
Notes: 1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience, at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience determining Medical Assistance Eligibility for multiple health programs, as well as experience setting up records and updating case information, based on COMAR regulations. He/she should also have experience assigning cases to subordinate Medical Care Program Associates.
