Main Purpose of Job

This position is the full performance level of work in providing maintenance, securing buildings and cemetery grounds, housekeeping and general services for state buildings. Candidates should have the ability to clean and move heavy objects when necessary. Ability to communicate effectively with the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: None.

Experience: None.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in grounds and/or building maintenance.

Experience with small power tool use, lawn mowers and trimmers.

Ability to clean and move heavy objects when necessary.

Able to communicate effectively with the public.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.

Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.  The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
