Annual Salary Range: $77,725 - $113,430

Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional contractual position that serves as the Director of Community Schools and is responsible for providing management of the technical assistance to local school systems’ (LSSs) Community School Coordinators in the implementation of wraparound services.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides management / direction for Community School Coordinators to complete wraparound services, identifies best practices, determines guidelines; & provides consultation, technical assistance, & training to the Community School Coordinators, other local systems personnel, other agencies, & community groups to ensure effective programs as established by State regulations / policies. Assists in the development & implementation of an assessment to determine the physical, behavioral, & emotional health needs of students, their families & their communities. Supports & provides technical assistance to ensure the professional growth of the LSSs Community School Coordinators. Works with LSSs Community School Coordinators to maintain a focus on results & tracks progress. Facilitates the implementation of LSSs menu of needs driven, high-quality programs & services. Supports capacity-building activities, including initiative-wide & site-based trainings, network meetings, & with site-based staff as needed. Provides Community Schools Assistance and Support to the Division. Participates & supports various interagency, Division of Student Support, Academic Enrichment & Educational Policy & intra-departmental programs, legislation, teams and provides leadership related to community schools, school-based health, mental health, & school improvement for supporting student achievement in accordance with MSDE procedures and policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Master’s degree or 36 credit equivalent in Education, School Counseling, Education Administration, Public Administration, Social Work or related degree.  

Experience: Six (6) years of related experience in coordinating or administering education programs and/or wraparound services.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and possible travel throughout the State are required. Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.

You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
